I love nature and wilderness and found solace walking along the wilderness paths at my childhood home. My pieces often reflect my lifetime love of nature.
Though my formative years growing up on a small farm, my core values to rescue, recycle and repurpose were solidified. Using blemished or discarded wood in my art resonates deeply with me. I pull out the beauty in the imperfections to transform them into the natural scenery around me.
Watercolor painting was a part of my life since childhood and so when I received a wood burning tool a few years ago, merging the two mediums came naturally. I really enjoy working with the textures and characteristics of wood in my art. Lately I've been playing with earth and rocks into my pieces as well.
